Abstract

The protocols related to the Internet of Things (IoT) have proven to undergo changes in the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), to increase the compatibility of WSN with the industrial and automation applications. In this paper, the programming model, the framework and the security aspects for the Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP) are analyzed with respect to the WSN. CoAP chooses the two-layered approach, to deal with interchanging of messages. The IOT involves implementing the programming in the Representational State Transfer (REST) model paradigm, which is predominantly inherited by the CoAP protocol. The CoAP proxy adapts a backend framework in a modular form. Also, the Datagram Transport Layer Security (DTLS) overcomes unreliable nature in the CoAP due to the User Datagram Protocol (UDP). The CoAP protocol is studied from different angle with respect to the prominent aspects for implementation of IOT in a real world.

Abstract

As the wireless communication greatly depends on spectrum utilization, the increase in demand for new wireless services and their application leads to the spectrum scarcity. In order to utilize the available spectrum efficiently, "cognitive radio"- The demanding technology is introduced. It is a dynamic technology that can sense the medium, utilizes the available white spaces, for transmission by detecting its neighboring devices. The cognitive radio targets to increase the efficiency of the spectrum changes without causing any intervention to the licensed users. Since cognitive radio works in the open network space, it increases the chance of the attacker to show intervene on the spectral medium. So, the security becomes the key factor. This leads to the realization of various security threats in the cognitive radio. There are various papers covering the security issues over the threats in cognitive radio, but this paper provides an advanced survey over attacks and common threats and the possibility of securing the available spectrum from the attackers. In addition to that future scope and challenges are also addressed. This survey will help the researchers to identify the space left out and the problems to be attached related to security issues on cognitive radio.

Abstract

Voice Coil Motor is a precise positioning and motion control device, the drive electronics must be of utmost accuracy such that it accounts for the exact requirements of the motor load. This work mainly focuses on the design and analysis of a current mode based operational amplifier, which is expected to generate the precise magnitudes of current. An improved Howland current pump, current drive based amplifier is theoretically analyzed and the analog simulation is performed. A novel hardware scheme is proposed which is suitable for VCM testing and the methodology to develop the hardware is also emphasized.

Abstract

To upgrade the Quality of Services among the sensor node correspondence in WSN, the recognizing confirmation of sensor node range, ID of reduced sensor nodes, amounts of sensor nodes included, recognizable proof of issue nodes are the over the top testing civil argument. The main objective of this work is to identify the faulty node, its readings, detection of the malfunctioning nodes. Round Trip Path is used to evaluate the Round Trip Delay time with which the information about the sensor nodes is accomplished. In perspective of the round trek deferral time esteem, the deficiency node is diagnosed. The detection of the faulty node is determined by the previous work but the obtained path for the detection is more. In the proposed Multi way Tree based Round Trip Path (MTrTP) system, the faulty node is identified with less number of paths when compared to the existing work. In this method, the shortcoming sensor node is recognized, by measuring the RTD time of every single possible way and the results are appeared differently in relation to edge esteem. MTrTP system is had a go at using six at mega sensor nodes with Xbee Series2 ZigBee modules. By taking a gander at the distinctive results got using the RTD examination, MTrTP strategy exhibits that, it will give raised results in regards to number of RTP and investigation time. In this work, diverse gained results are plotted and the relating examinations are inspected. The plotted result of the existing work and the current work is compared. The proposed work has much more advantages when compared to existing because the number of path obtained and the analysis time for the fault node detection is less. Thus, the detection of the fault node is determined by the MTrTP algorithm. Therefore, the lifetime of the wireless sensor network, the degree of coverage and connectivity among the sensor network are increased. This work can be used for industrial automation and all WSN applications.

Abstract

Background/Objectives: Air pollution due to vehicular and industrial emission has become menace to the living beings. Due to this menace both indoor and outdoor air quality monitoring in real time has become mandatory. Methods/ Statistical Analysis: The evolution of Internet of Things (IoT) and Single Board Computers (SBC) has made real time remote monitoring as a ubiquitous process. Remote monitoring was facilitiated using classical motes in the past, which has some pitfalls like limited memory, processsing speed and complex programming strategies. This paper portrays the usage of SBC for integration of IoT with WSN for Air Quality Monitoring System (AQMS), where SBC are capable of performing even complex task with enhanced speed and reduced complexity. The integration of cloud services with SBC makes alerting process smart and realtime. Findings: With the review and realizing of immense literature in the field of WSN for air quality management, the design of sensor web node becomes essential. The evolution of SBC adds merit towards monitoring and measuring of the critical factors in centralized Air Quality Monitoring System (AQMS) in any plant. Sensor web node is proposed with commercial gas sensors for detecting the gases like CO, CO₂, NH₃ and NOx to monitor both indoor and outdoor air quality. The observed results are properly evaluated using ThingSpeak open source IoT platform. The integration of open source cloud services for SBC in this proposed prototype model confirms low cost, comfort, convenience and rapid prototyping for flexible AQMS. Applications/Improvements: This prototype can be easily adapted to any monitoring systems with minor changes and can be made scalable for tomorrow.

Abstract

Background/Objectives: Data Entry Works in computer using Voice Keyboard. Methods: Here our idea is to use voice to communicate computer. For this we are going to develop a voice keyboard similar to on-screen keyboard. The onscreen keyboard contains all the keys available with regular keyboard device. But our implementation will be focus only on characters, symbols, number keys only. Because our main motive is to reduce the human effort to type all the data and increase the speed of data entry work. But instead of typing, here just pronounce the character that will be typed in any editors. Findings: The user gives voice input to computer, the computer accepts the voice input and converts to appropriate text. This will also be useful for All kind of Data Entry works; besides useful for physically challenged users. Application/Improvements: In future we develop voice keyboard with all functions.

Abstract

Objectives: Most of the accidents could be avoided or prevented through simple measures like speed limit, precautions for the driver’s safety and discipline among road users. Most of the accidents occur on highways, especially when changing lanes. This paper focuses on reducing such accidents by using Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS). Methods: This LKAS is based on the concept of neural network model, which has a high complexity and high cost design for functional implementation. Findings: Though this system has more advantages, it cannot be implemented in all range of cars. In order to overcome this, a cost affordable, safety alert system suitable for all range of cars is proposed using low cost and low power consumption open source device, in which vehicles are incorporated with sensors which helps in notifying when the vehicle is overtake and makes it easier for people to control the movements of vehicle. Application/Improvement: It helps to indicate the unconditional changes of vehicle between the lanes and also reduce the accidents. Apart from this, fading and blinking of front head lights automated whenever approaching in opposite direction.

Abstract

Objectives: To devise a gas leakage monitoring and alerting systems for LPG warehouse. Methods/Statistical Analysis: One of the prime areas to monitor the leakages is LPG warehouse. A Wireless Gas Monitoring and Alerting System (WGMAS) is proposed for detecting, monitoring and thereby to provide alerts about the emissions and leakage at the target area of interest inside a warehouse.MQ-2 and MQ-5 LPG gas sensors interfaced with the Arduino sensor nodes are used. The Raspberry Pi gateway uses a hypertext transport protocol to send the data to the Xively cloud. Findings: The developed WGMAS provides an efficient, periodical monitoring and alerting framework for the plants to prevent the explosion due to the leakage. A mobile relay node is designed for the fault tolerance purpose. Improvements: The designed prototype enables the admin of the warehouse to monitor and analyze the status of emission inside the warehouse remotely by utilizing the Io T services and thereby the supervisor of warehouse can have a control over it.

Abstract

Objectives: Increasing energy usage will affect the sustainability due to the presence of elevated level of greenhouse gases. The primary aim of energy management is to ensure optimum energy utilization, thereby minimizing energy costs and extenuating environmental effects. Real time energy monitoring and management assist consumers to overcome the burden of load shedding, energy surcharges and dependence on secondary energy sources like generators and inverters in residential buildings. Methods: A low cost, advanced embedded hardware with ethernet communication, i.e Arduino Mega 2560 and smartphone with cloud computing technologies are used to develop a prototype model. It will provide optimal solutions to the consumer for real time monitoring of energy for self regulation as well as to choose the energy provider for competitive energy price. A joint scheduling of electric supply and demand of consumer through Internet of Things (IoT) based smart energy management system on interruptible and shiftable load is proposed. Findings: The energy provider needs to regulate the energy usage during peak hours to manage massive energy demand of individual customer or on the whole. This also can be used to prevent the problem of overload on residential generator power supply system and subsequent damage to it. Application/Improvement: Low cost, scalable proposed system regulates the peak load by means of load sharing at lower production cost with maximum service utilization is achieved.
